Kelvingrove Art Gallery recently reopened after a major refurbishment which took over three years to complete. The gallery can be found in the west end of the city and is opened from 1000 until 1700 from Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. Friday and Sunday the art gallery is opened from 1100 until 1700.
The gallery can be found at the end of Argyle St close to the city centre. If you decide to leave behind your car hire from Glasgow Airport and go by public transport then the gallery is well serviced by bus, underground and train links.
Tourists will find a bus stop outside the gallery on the main road which drops passengers in both directions depending on which way you are travelling. The buses carry on their journeys into the city centre. The bus number which passengers can take to the gallery is 9, 16, 18/A, 42/A, and 62.
If you decide to try out the clockwork orange which is the nick name of the city underground. There are two stops within a short walk of the gallery. Hillhead underground station can be found on Byres Road and is around a 10 to 15 minute walk to the gallery. Another underground station within a five walk of the underground is Kelvinhall Station which can be found on Dumbarton Road. The metro is generally well run with trains running around every five minutes to the art galleries.
Going by train, you can dismount at the Partick Rail Station in the west end and walk about 15 minutes along Dumbarton Road until you reach the galleries. Passengers can catch this train at Central Station low level in the city centre. The trains run frequently during the day to the rail station.
